Casting / Audition Details:

PLOT: A filmmaker recounts the 1955 lynching of Emmett Till in Money, Mississippi - while traveling to the places in which they occured.

We've been currently working on this film for close to 8 months now, and have personally interviewed and talked with numerous people who were personally involved in the case, and I really want this to be the first full re-telling of the story on film. We have already shot a re-enactment of the murder itself, as well as visited the site of where Emmett was killed. We are now in the process of gathering archives, so this has slowly become a passion project to say the least! I'm  hoping to raise awareness with the issues and history of racism, and plan promoting this to festivals, schools, etc. To really help educate people in learning more about Emmett's story.

Character Breakdown:

We are currently in the stages of needing Voice-Over Actors for a couple of the characters in the story. You will be directly quoting some of the lines that were said in real life (from Trial transcripts, to interviews) from the people you will be portraying.

I want to also stress that, with the subject matter being on racism, you must be open to some offensive language. These are real quotes and will be word for word from the killer's mouths.

Please attach a headshot, and links to previous work if you are able. Or if you are up for it, a monologue with a southern (preferable Mississippi) accent.

Roy Bryant

One of the half-brothers who was acquitted for the killing of Emmett Till

30-40yo / White Male

Preferably a Mississippi or southern accent is required, or at least able enough to cheat it. If you are familiar with Mississippi dialect that is a huge plus! He was J.W’s accomplice in the murder and half-brother. Roy is not as out-spoken or violent as J.W. but is equally as dangerous.

J.W. Milam

The brother-in-law of the woman who was whistled at. Aka - One of the murderers of Emmett Till. A half-brother to Roy Bryant.

30-45yo / White Male

Also has a thick Mississippi accent. J.W. has a bit more lines than Roy. He was described by many as someone who just liked to kill. He’s mean, ego-driven, and ignorant through and through. Someone you wouldn’t want to mess with. He was just a violent person who would kill at the drop of a hat.

Times, dates & locations:

Since this is for voice only, we will be holding auditions solely online. We will most likely contact you via phone if we are interested, and help you get a better feel for the character. I'm honestly, just looking for someone who is open-minded to collaborating with different ideas to make some real art, just like we all are looking to do!

Directions for the actual Voice-Over location will be given once the characters are cast.
