Casting / Audition Details:

DEEP GREENWOOD the Stage play, is a fact based story about people uniting to form a black business district. The time period is early 1900’s in Tulsa, Oklahoma where two individuals, J.B Stratford and O.W Gurley, come together with a plan to purchase several blocks of land and sell them only to other black entrepreneurs. With their plan in motion, Black Wall Street is born. Creating well over 100 businesses from grocery stores, banks, and theatres, to restaurants, pool halls, hotels and even lawyer and doctor offices. Just to name a few.

This play tells the story of how and why the black business district was created. Located inside the community of Greenwood, Oklahoma. We also shed light on the dark events leading up to one of the deadliest, untold and unforgettable 12 hours in American History. A race massacre of unmeasurable proportion. Leaving thousands homeless, and untold hundreds to lie dead in the street, burned alive, or shot dead as they ran for safety.

The individuals we seek for this production, must be prepared to maximize your potential to grow as an actor. This production will stretch you; it will cause you to go to places within your own understanding of how divided this nation is as it relates to race. This production will also outline the impact a unified people can have, in a situation addicted to venomous hate, and violent resolve. As an actor, if you are sensitive to truth… your opinion is not what we seek, only your gift and ability to bring words to life. Be prepared to have your mind expanded, and exposed to an event that was erased from history… until now. Thank you.
